Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Planning and Scheduling Manager leads the planning and scheduling of all maintenance in the facility to include PM's, scheduled work, and unscheduled outages. Collaboration with maintenance and operations is key to the success of the facility and effective communication is must. Provides oversight to all planning and scheduling for routine and non-routine work. Manages KPI's and provides monthly status reports against the Maintenance Work Process. Works closely with the Turnaround group reviewing all plans ensuring there are no SIMOPS issues for successful outages. Collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse, and TAR for all maintenance activities ensuring the work scheduled to be performed is accurate and completed in an acceptable time frame.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of training modules for all planners and schedulers to ensure each are planning/scheduling per the PALNG standards in the CMMS.
  • Develops the work force and creates a succession plan for all key roles utilizing employee goals and training to identify protentional candidates.
  • Performs annual and semiannual performance reviews with PALNG direct reports providing positive and constructive feedback for self-development. Provides guidance in achieving career goals with each report.
  • Ensures daily continuous improvement techniques are being applied through routine meeting cadences. Responsible for driving day on day improvements on how we plan and schedule as well as improve our maintenance work practices.
  • Leads the implementation and monitors the effectiveness of planning & scheduling improvement initiatives. (Continuous improvement through capturing lessons learned) High Reliability Organization (HRO).
  • Drives the optimization of work planning, scheduling and use of the SAP system in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement Lead.
  • Manages and guides schedulers in prioritizing work orders based on the work to be performed and the associated risk. Ensures accurate, achievable completion dates are a key focus.
  • Guides lead planners in building and communicating work order plans, ensuring they are accurate and reflect all work management activities.
  • Creates and manages the job expectations and descriptions for each discipline planner.
  • Reviews routine and TAR plans for SIMOPS and guide the scheduling department in early identification and mitigation of simultaneous operations that could cause delays.
  • Manages the work process for the Turnaround group optimizing PM's and scheduled maintenance during the planning and scheduling phase.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of experience with planning/scheduling in Primavera or SAP.
  • 10 years of experience in Refining, Chemical, Power, or LNG.
  • Valid Driver's License or reliable mode of transportation
  • Possess extensive knowledge in implementing best practices for planning, scheduling, and maintenance.
  • Possess strong leadership abilities to build positive team environment, manage and influence team performance including mentoring.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of SAP, P6 and associated CMMS programs.
  • Possess analytical thinking and ability to utilize concise data and information while working through problems and implementing solutions.
  • The ability to apply strong written and oral communication skills while presenting and participating in discussions with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Possess positive attitude and has the ability and poise to be professional during crucial discussions with senior management, and/or while presenting critical information requiring management decision to overcome issues and concerns regarding planning and scheduling.
  • Possess extensive knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PPT, Visio to convey information with clarity through presentations and reports.
  • Possess extensive experience in meeting project goals and objectives utilizing forward looking approach.
  • Possess extensive experience in managing and mitigating maintenance risks.
  • Possess strong working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret P&IDs.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple and complex issues and work independently.
  • Understanding of competency development programs and supporting tools and practices.
  • Understanding of the maintenance work management process and systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) preferred.

OFFICE: Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
