WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function is dedicated to developing and implementing strategy for identifying and managing significant risk exposures at BCG. The function aligns itself with the internal staff at BCG where each office, internal function, Managing Director and Partner (MDP), and all employees bear the responsibility for managing risk at the firm.

The ERM team assists the dispersed owners of the risks to self-discover, analyze, and improve management processes and controls around risk. Working with other stakeholders, the function is also the important catalyst and discussion partner with respect to broader BCG enterprise risk topics, including, but not limited to, areas of contracting and client matters, confidentiality, HR, IT, legal, and compliance topics including anti-bribery and corruption, KYC, supplier management, information management, insider trading, conflicts of interest, information security, and data privacy, etc.

The team develops tools, knowledge, capabilities, and trainings to empower all BCG staff to act in accordance with our Values, Purpose and Code of Conduct.

The right candidate must be able to understand and assess risks across a wide variety of business areas, build relationships with diverse stakeholders, and manage a complex network to navigate change management across the organization. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to prioritize simultaneous projects, communicate issues, and escalate appropriately.

This role will report to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
Enterprise Risk Management (90%)
  • Maintain an understanding of BCG's key risks their potential impact, and our gaps in planning and mitigation strategies (including through the use of dashboards, risk registers, etc.)
  • Participate in the identification of emerging risks and trends
  • Support maturation of a data-driven risk management approach
  • Based on input from various parts of the BCG matrix organization, design, manage, and drive implementation of initiatives to continually improve and address key gaps in BCG's overall risk management framework
  • Work closely with risk owners and other key stakeholders
  • Lead and participate on cross-functional teams raising risk awareness and driving risk mitigating measures
  • Be a change agent in the organization at multiple levels (including regional leadership teams, BCG's Audit and Risk Committee, office leaders and MDP teams) and across geographies and functions, both in terms of behavioral change in managing risks and in terms of process changes supporting risk management
  • Be a communicator within the firm, both in formal trainings and in ad-hoc ways, promoting the risk agenda and raising awareness
  • Identify and leverage lessons learned and best practices from internal and external events, fostering the culture of continuous improvement within BCG
  • Leverage data analytics to develop and communicate risk-based management insight
  • Develop and implement dashboard analytics, digitization of risk management processes, and board level reporting, to enable well-informed and faster decision-making
  • As appropriate, assume on-going stewardship of key risk management topics
  • Identify, lead, participate, and/or manage special projects associated with BCG's growing ERM and overall global risk program
  • Manage more junior team members to support their overall growth and development while ensuring ongoing projects / tasks are completed accurately and meeting deadlines

Other Risk Management Efforts (10%)
  • Maintain strong connections with the broader risk function including the compliance team, assurance & advisory team, strategy & operations team, as well the extended groups under global risk including physical security, data protection office, and information security
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in cross-functional workshops driving risk identification, mitigation, reporting, and overall risk awareness
  • Identify lessons-learned and best practices from within the team, broadening the adoption of best practices across functions and offices
  • Drive affiliation among the broader risk team

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
    We are looking for someone with:
    • A passion for risk management and an understanding of complex global organizations with a decentralized approach to risk
    • An academic degree in a relevant discipline: risk management, business management, compliance, data science/analytics; advanced degree preferred
    • Minimum of 5-8 years of applicable experience with professional designation
    • Applicable experience preferred including:
      • Global experience around risk management and program implementation
      • Global management consulting or professional services experience
      • Expert working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word; additional exposure to Tableau, Alteryx, SharePoint, cloud technology, Slack, Trello, OneNote a plus
      • Strong written and verbal communication style for senior stakeholders and change management more broadly
      • Strong working knowledge in key areas of risk
      • Fluent in English (verbal and written); Additional languages a strong plus
    • The ability to attend conference calls after hours as needed to accommodate stakeholders and team members in other geographies
    • Willingness for international travel on an ad hoc basis (may be required - approximately 10%)

    • Strong project management skills; professional designation preferred.
